OVERVIEW
Mindshare is looking for a Media Planning Supervisor with a passion for marketing and a curiosity for media in advertising. This role is in the Client Leadership team and is an integral part in capturing a client’s vision to reach the intended audience. The Media Planners are part psychologists, part scientists, part artists, part entrepreneurs, and part politicians. They strategize how brands should communicate with people across the myriad of media channels, and how to do that differently from every other brand.
The Planning Supervisor is responsible for our strategic brand work: comms plans, media strategies, media plans. You will direct the day-to-day account activities for the brand and play a key role in the translation of marketing and advertising objectives into overall media strategies. You, in partnership with the client marketing teams will lead its deployment to the respective brand teams and optimize it regularly based on business dynamics.
YOUR IMPACT:
  • Lead in the planning and assist in the implementing and the maintenance of holistic media campaigns.
  • Able to lead the higher-level strategy as well as provide guidance and assistance in the implementation/execution of a media plan
  • Manage direct client relationships as well as train and manage planners and assistants in all media planning functions
  • Manage day to day client requests autonomously Contribute significantly to the development of communications strategies that activate consumer insights, drive innovation for clients and provide structure for brand channel presence/priorities
  • Support the development of and identifies key roles for media; help to define how media should complement and connect with other marketing activities
  • Identify areas for continuous innovation of the agency’s product ensuring the use of strategy and insights in a coordinated manner working towards the same goals
  • Active collaboration with various departments and media buyers within Mindshare and across the GroupM network
  • Develop and maintain the strategic media plan as well as present media strategy recommendations directly to client leads
  • Organize and lead in-person client meetings and conference calls, incorporating staff where needed
  • Making and maintaining strong working relationships with media vendors for smooth planning, execution, and implementation
  • Gain proficiency in media applications and appropriate research tools
  • Working with the senior leads, as well as implementation groups, develops budget allocations across media, media mix scenarios 
  • Provide day-to-day direction to implementation groups for the strategic media plan
  • Maintain and communicate up-to-date records of the implementation of the plan
  • Provide research and analysis to manage various issues that arise in the execution
  • Foster a team-based environment which encourages intelligent risk taking, provocation, and innovation
  • Work with management to develop project plans and deliverable timelines, ensuring the team is delivering on schedule
  • Grow, engage, retain, and recruit the best talent
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • College Diploma or Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in advertising, marketing, business administration, and communications, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of relevant media experience, media planning preferred
  • Proven experience with client presentation and reporting 
  • Knowledge of Canada and US media landscape
  • Knowledge of media buying
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) 
  • Proficiency with 3rd party syndicated research resources (ComScore, Nielsen, Vividata)
