Austin is a major city so expect delays during rush hour traffic on weekday mornings (7am-9am) and evenings (4:30pm-7pm).
There are lots of road closures during SXSW festival as well, so be sure to schedule extra time for transportation when traveling around.
Check out more on SXSW website here for getting around.
Free circulating shuttle between the convention center and most SXSW venues
For if you’re going outside of downtown, Uber and Lyft will give you best pick-up options
Licensed and regulated by City of Austin. Negotiate a price before you take off.
For short trips, less than two miles. JUMP electric scooters are available through Uber app.
Austin B-Cycle is the city’s bike-sharing system, available to rent by the hour or day.
Enterprise is the option SXSW recommend since they’ll pick you up.
Austin Airport is about 15 minutes from downtown. We recommend a rideshare app like Uber or Lyft, but there are public transportation services available. Ask at the help desk on arrival for more details.
