Mindshare Balance

For Mental Health Awareness Month this year, it's never been more important to have balance and take care of our health and wellbeing. Take a look at what Mindshare Balance (our employee resource group) had in store for us throughout May.

Staying Connected

We hosted a series of events, which not only focused on wellness but also fun moments, where we could get together as a group. Since working remotely, our social activities look completely different, so we have to make sure #TeamMindshare can still connect and see people in different teams across our agency.

Brit+Co held a digital illustration workshop with CEO and Founder, Brit Morin, and Kristin Berry Mastors (CEO of Miss Berry Design Inc.), teaching us how to design our own eye-catching illustrations. We also heard from one of our leads in Chicago, Shardul Wartikar, who told us his inspiring story about how running has helped him manage stress and influenced his attitude to life. Mariel Cummins, also in our Chicago team, talked to us about ‘The Work’ by Byron Katie. What we believe influences how we feel and our mental wellbeing and ‘The Work’ is a simple self-inquiry created by the American author and speaker Byron Katie. Lastly, Verizon Media's HuffPost team hosted a session about a topic that's constantly on our minds right now: how to stay positive during lockdown. The esteemed panel included: Lindsay Holmes, Senior Wellness Editor; Kate Auletta, Senior Editor Culture and Parenting, and Kate Palmer, Editorial Director for Lifestyle. They talked through key themes and topics we've seen and heard about over the last few months and top tips on focusing on positives and what you can control.

Taking a break

#TeamMindshare across the US collectively took an extra day off before Memorial Day Weekend to recharge and take a break. We all put on our out-of-the-office auto-replies to let people know. Before we wrapped up for the weekend, we had an all-agency Trivia Night showdown to wind down and get together to have some fun.

Danielle Koffer, Chief Client Officer reminds us: "While we are all working harder than ever, it’s more important to schedule mental recharging time. This is not a luxury in some cases; it’s a necessity. I personally have scheduled some throughout my schedule as a means of self-care." Read Danielle's full piece on Managing with Empathy for more.

Utilizing Employee Assistance Program resources

We're fortunate to have resources such as professional assistance hotline, video therapy, Mindshare meditation sessions, and more. We let everyone know with regular reminders and we use our internal communication platform. Having outside help that is confidential and impartial can be game-changing. Within WPP, our EAP also holds regular group sessions.
